September's Truro Food Festival has announced its first batch of participating chefs for 2024.
Jude Kereama, known for Porthleven restaurants Kota and Kota Kai, taps into the food cultures of the Asia-Pacific, not least through his mother, who is Chinese-Malay.
Kate Attlee, born in Cornwall and schooled in Truro, owes her culinary creativity to her mixed Iranian-British heritage.
She operates several popular neighbourhood delis under the Sabzi name in Truro, Padstow, Falmouth, and Nansledan.
Growing up in a food-centric family in Italy, Ugo, of the Cornish Italian, traces his desire to bring authentic Italian food to Cornwall back to an inherited recipe for tiramisu.
He delivers a taste of 'la dolce vita' everyday through authentic Italian menu selections at his establishment on the Roseland Peninsula.
A trailblazer in Cornwall’s restaurant scene, Ben Tunnicliffe earnt one of Cornwall's first Michelin stars while at The Abbey in Penzance in the early 2000s.
The Tolcarne Inn, his present venture, is a hotspot for seafood lovers with daily fresh catches.
Caitlin, of Delea Fermented Foods, will be demonstrating how to make fermented foods using locally sourced, seasonal produce.
She is one of several Truro Farmers Market producers taking to the stage over the five days of the festival, and will be instructing spectators on how to make their own store cupboard saviours.
Rounding off the first batch is Charlie Walters, former Masterchef: The Professionals finalist and young restaurateur.
Mr Walters serves refined Cornish small plates at The Gate, as part of his restaurant concept 'Charlie Walters at The Gate.'
The full festival line-up is close to completion with the entire programme to be unveiled in early September.
Guests can expect street food vendors, Cornish brands in the Producers Village, and a host of live entertainment and family activities.
The event is set to permeate the city, with hotels, bars, cafés, shops, and restaurants hosting fringe events and special offers around the festival.
The Truro Food Festival takes place from September 25 to 29.
It is supported by Visit Truro and Truro City Council, and sponsored by GWR, Truro College, Cornish Sea Salt, and Skinner’s Brewery.
