The Masked Ball, a decade-long tradition of wild costumes and unforgettable nights, faces an uncertain future.

The organisers of Helston’s Masked Ball have announced that this year’s event could be its final one due to rising costs and other factors.

In an emotional post shared on Facebook on Wednesday, organisers said: “So... this is hard to say...but we're going to be completely straight up - this may well be the last ball.

“Sadly, we're just not certain it can continue due to several factors outside of our control, costs and otherwise.”

Despite the uncertain future, the organisers are determined to celebrate this milestone with a return to the core spirit of the Masked Ball.

The post said: “On a positive note, we’ve decided to mark it all by going back to where we came from – it being about you lot, the atmosphere and the vibe – that’s always made the ball what it is – no matter where we are or who’s playing.”

Following the announcement, many Masked Ball fans shared their thoughts on the ball potentially closing for the final time.

One member of the public said: “Masked Ball - you lot are incredible! Big send-off if that's how it got to be!” while another added: “Definitely going. Ten years, the last one gonna be a banger.”

The organisers are keeping the lineup and stage arrangements a surprise until the day of the evening but have promised ‘ballers’ an unforgettable night.

“We’ve never let you down, the tenth anniversary is going to be wild,” they reassured.

This year’s event will take place on a slightly later date than normal, with it being held on November 9. It will run from dusk until dawn, with some of the Flambards rides open.

Masked Ball organisers said they will answer any questions about this year's ball when they return from Boardmasters in Newquay.
