A bakery set up in 1865 is opening its first shop in Falmouth to complement its outlets in Mevagissey, Truro and Par.
Martins Bakery has announced that it has just signed the lease on a new shop in Church Street, Falmouth opposite Fat Face and plans to open mid-September.
Based in St Austell the bakery currently has three shops in Truro Pannier Market, Mevagissey and Par Market Food Hall, plus various wholesale customers.
Baking has been in the family since the company forn 1865 with the company moving to Cornwall in 1978.
Nicola from Martins said they were very excited to be opening the new shop in mid-September.
“We came across this outlet and feel it's a bustling town with a great variety of shops and lots to offer for locals, students and tourists,” she said.
“After coming to look at the area felt there was a gap in the market for a bakery that does more than pasties and pastries Our bread is traditionally made by hand and we have recently perfected real sourdoughs.
“We make a huge range of confectionary and fresh cream cakes as well as various pasties and savouries too. We're excited to bring our range to Falmouth and look forward to meeting our new customers.”
With a new shop comes a new team and the company is currently looking for experienced supervisors and sales assistants in Falmouth that can work all year round (not just term time).
Anyone interested should email their CV and days/hours preferred to jobs.martinsbakery@gmail.com.
The company says it has been providing the Mid Cornwall area with quality baked produce for over 150 years, and pride themselves on their fine foods.
All food is freshly made six days a week and arrives in the store on the same day.
