Shoppers have shared their sadness after a popular Helston charity shop will close its doors for a final time later this year.
For more than two years, Your Voice, Cornwall’s Re-Loved Boutique at the top of Coinagehall Street has welcomed thousands of shoppers whilst raising money for women’s mental health charities and groups across Cornwall.
The dream of a dedicated shop in the town was of Natasha Long, founder of Your Voice, Cornwall. After trading from a pop-up shop within The Closet on Wendron Street, the boutique officially opened in May 2022.
However, after two years, the shop will cease trading and close its doors towards the end of this year.
On Thursday (August 8) a post on the Your Voice, Cornwall Facebook was shared with its 1.6k followers announcing the news.
The post reads: “After a lot of consideration, we are sadly having to close our wonderful boutique and therefore, will be focusing on our current stock.
“The closure will take place later this year – so you’re stuck with us a little longer.”
Although it hasn’t been a decision, several factors have forced the shop closure.
“Tash’s health is declining and impacting her commitment to the shop,” the post said.
“Footfall isn’t sustainable, and heartbreakingly, the shop just isn’t making enough to cover the rent, and bills and then help cover the costs of our valuable peer support groups.”
Natasha told the Packet how 'incredibly grateful' she was for the constant support from shoppers and members of the public. She said: "We have loved being a part of the town and are so incredibly grateful to every person who has shopped and donated to us.
"I have worked in retail for 30 years and can say in all honestly that we have the best customers."
Shoppers and residents have shared their sadness following the announcement. One person said: “It will be sad to see you go but my, you’ve achieved so much.
“What you do for women is incredible, and it’s been lovely to see what you’ve built.”
Another comment praised Your Voice for its supportive impact on the mental health sector. It said: “Oh no, that is sad. You have done so much for Helston and the mental health sector.”
Your Voice will continue as a mental health support charity and support groups will continue.

With just a few months left of trading, Your Voice, Cornwall is urging shoppers to continue supporting the work of other local charities by donating their pre-loved items.
“So, as much as we value our incredible donations, please pop them into one of the many other wonderful charity outlets that we are lucky enough to work alongside in town,” it said.
Updates on closure dates, and other important information will be shared on the Your Voice, Cornwall Re-Loved Boutique Facebook page.
