National Highways is advising drivers that from early next month the Avers roundabout over the A30 will be closed for essential refurbishment work.
As part of a full bridge refurbishment scheme, the Avers junction near Redruth will be closed from Monday, September 9, between the eastbound entry and westbound exit slip roads and westbound entry and eastbound exit slip roads, to enable expansion joint replacement, waterproofing and resurfacing.
To avoid a longer, potentially ninth-month programme of work, both east and west decks of the bridge will be closed for up to ten weeks.
The work will be carried out under a mix of lane and full closures, with the A30 remaining open throughout.
Project Manager Grant Shorland said: “We appreciate roadworks and road closures can be frustrating but we’re communicating with local businesses and communities well in advance to ensure people can plan ahead.
“To work separately on each of the bridge decks would take a lot longer, we’re working to keep the closure to an absolute minimum and we thank all drivers in advance for their co-operation and patience while we carry out this essential refurbishment work.”
Signed diversion routes will be in place for drivers, and with pedestrians and cyclists unable to gain access through the closures, until late November, a shuttle bus service (7am-midnight) is being provided between North Country and ALDI.
