Students from Truro and Penwith College are celebrating outstanding level 3 results, with many outperforming the national average.

Phoebe from Falmouth studied A-level biology, chemistry, and psychology, achieving 3 A*s.

She is now off to Bristol University to study biochemistry.

The star performer said: "There was a really good balance of being able to do your own thing and the lecturers always being there to help.

"My school had a sixth form, but I thought there was better stuff going on here and there’s a lot more facilities; there’s everything here.

"I’m looking forward to uni, I feel relieved that I’m definitely going!"

Ayra, from Truro, also achieved 3 A*s in maths, biology, and chemistry.

She has secured a place to study medicine at her first-choice university, UCL.

Ayra said: "The support I’ve received in the Medics Academy has been amazing.

"They really went into depth with the application process and most of us have an offer so clearly it works."

Eleanor and Fred, twins from Perranarworthal, both achieved their first-choice university places.

Eleanor, an A-level and Medics Academy student, has gained a place to study medicine at Cardiff University, while Fred will study aeronautical engineering at the University of Nottingham.

Eleanor said: "The one-to-one support I received from the Medics Academy really helped with the application process in gaining my first-choice university."

Gracie from Newquay achieved A*A*A in A-level psychology, biology, and chemistry.

She is now off to Exeter University to study medicine.

Gracie said: "I could have gone to sixth form, but coming to Truro College was just a bigger and better opportunity.

"There’s a broader range of courses, which drew me here most.

"I’m really grateful to the college for that."

HoiYan from Pool achieved A*AA in A-level fine art, biology, and maths.

She is now going to the University of Exeter to study medical sciences.

HoiYan said: "I feel like I had a lot more freedom here than I did in secondary school.

"It was really cool to have my art displayed at the exhibition in Truro."

William, an engineering student from Hayle, achieved a triple distinction star.

He has secured a level 6 design engineering apprenticeship with Falmouth Docks.

William said: "I’ve loved every minute of college.

"The skills of our lecturers and professional workshops are very impressive."

Grace, a Penwith College student who previously attended Cape Cornwall School, achieved A*A*A in A-level history, English literature, and psychology.

She is now going to study history at Oxford University.

Grace said: "I think the courses at Penwith College are really good.

"They are very in-depth and enriching.

"You want to go and want to learn and there is lot of help provided for essay writing and practicing questions."

Martha, also from Cape Cornwall School, achieved four A* grades in A-level chemistry, mathematics, further mathematics, and physics.

She is now going to study mathematics and statistics at Oxford University.

Martha said: "The libraries are good, especially Porthcurno Library where it’s not too loud so I can study."
