A Cornish mother has praised a Biffa worker who went the extra mile to make her young son’s day.

Chloe Brodrick from the Camborne and Redruth area is overjoyed after a bin man, believed to be named Craig, surprised her four-year-old son, Frazer, with a thoughtful gift.

Chloe told the Packet: “He came on our road a few weeks ago (Craig), and my son likes to go outside and watch the guys.

“Craig took the time to stop and chat with my son and lifted him to show him around the truck.

“This morning (Friday), Craig came around, and knocked on the door with a book, sunglasses and a torch and said they were for my son.”

Chloe said that little Frazer, who dreams of becoming a bin man, was over the moon with the surprise.

Chloe took to social media to express her heartfelt thanks to Craig.

"You have the biggest heart," she said. "My son is overjoyed, and I can’t thank you enough. You’re an absolute credit to Biffa Cornwall Municipal."

This isn’t the first time, that the Cornwall’s waste collection crews have been praised by members of the public.

In 2023, the family of a Porthleven pensioner praised a team of recycling workers for bringing joy to her on their rounds.

Eileen had been entertained by the collector's visits each week, not just for the collection of her recycling, but their entertaining dance routines.

On one visit, the team brought Eileen a box of biscuits leaving her daughters Andrea and Lynda thrilled. You can read more about this here: Family's plea to find dancing recycling crew bringing joy to Cornish pensioner
