A Helston man has been ordered to pay nearly £1,000 after being found guilty of three traffic offences.
Dale Paul Champan, 28 of Carey Park stood before magistrates at Truro Magistrates Court on August 5, 2024.
Champman was convicted of three offences in relation to an incident that happened on January 22, 2024.
He pleaded guilty to the following charges:
Use of a motor vehicle with a damaged tyre:
Champman was found to have driven his vehicle, CE53AYM on Grage Road, Helston, with a pneumatic tyre on the front offside wheel with its ply or cord exposed.
Use of a motor vehicle in a dangerous condition: Chapman was also found to have driven the same vehicle with sharp and rusty edges exposed on the front rear offside wheel arches, making the vehicle unsafe and posing a risk of injury to any person.
He was also found guilty of driving the same vehicle on Grange Road without due care and attention.
For the first two offences, Chapman received no separate penalty but was given endorsements on his driving record.
For the charge of driving without due care and attention, Chapman was fined £600, ordered to pay a surcharge of £240 to fund victim services, and £85 in costs to the Crown Prosecution Service, totalling £925.
Chapman has been ordered to pay £100 per month commencing from September 2, 2024.
As well as this, he was also given eight penalty points on his driving licence.
The court considered Chapman's guilty pleas when imposing the sentences.
