Police are appealing for witnesses following an incident of homophobic and racial abuse in Penzance.

The incident took place at around 12pm on Saturday, August 24 in the B&M store car park in Eastern Green, Penzance.

It was reported that a woman was driving towards the car park exit when a vehicle in front suddenly stopped without warning and started reversing.

The woman was forced to reverse to avoid collision and may have reacted by shaking her head or gesturing with her hands.

Following this, the male driver of the other vehicle allegedly shouted homophobic and racist abuse at the woman.

Police now want to speak to two females who are believed to have witnessed the incident.

A Devon and Cornwall Police spokesperson said: “Police are appealing for witnesses following a disturbing incident of homophobic and racial abuse that occurred on Saturday, August 24th, at approximately 12pm in the B&M store car park in Eastern Green, Penzance.

“Police are particularly interested in speaking to two females who are believed to have witnessed the incident.

“Anyone with information is urged to contact the police on 101 or visit the Devon and Cornwall Police website and quote crime reference number 50240214367.”
