A piece of Cornwall’s mining history is going under the hammer, with a former tin mine engine house up for sale.
Following the successful auction of Wheal Kitty Business Park near St Agnes, Clive Emson has now revealed that a former engine house in St Day, Cornwall is up for sale, for just £6,000 plus fees.
The stone building situated next to United Downs Industrial Park is currently in a poor state of repair but offers a unique opportunity for buyers with a vision.
This engine house is one of 178 lots in the latest sale by Clive Emson, one of the UK’s top five property auctioneers.
Auctioneer David Henwood highlighted the popularity of such historic structures among buyers. “Former engine houses of this kind are popular with auction buyers,” he said.
“We successfully auctioned a former engine house used as offices at Wheal Kitty Business Park near St Agnes in July. It sold for £149,100, nearly three times its guide, and attracted more than 100 bids which demonstrates the level of interest and potential in these types of historic structures.”
The engine house, located at the United Downs Industrial Park in St Day, Redruth, offers a chance to own a piece of Cornwall’s rich mining heritage. While the building required substantial work, its prime location and history make it an appealing proposition for investors and developers alike.
Interested buyers are advised to view the property online through the Clive Emson website, as access is currently restricted due to its condition.
The auction will be held from September 16 to 18.
