A hot tub on a balcony lived up to its name when it started a fire which caused serious damage to a house near a Newquay beauty spot.
Firefighters from Padstow were first called to a fire on the balcony by the occupants of the house in St Eval near Bedruthan Steps in the early hours of Wednesday morning (September 4).
When firefighters arrived the property was well alight and assistance was called for from Newquay Community Fire Station and St Columb Community Fire Station.
The water carrier from Wadebridge Community Fire Station was also sent to supplement a limited water supply.
The fire had spread into the interior of the property and the crews had to act quickly to stop it from spreading further before managing to put it out.
Posting pictures on Facebook, Padstow Fire Station said: “Early this morning we were called to attend a fire on a balcony. Following a second call from the occupants further resources from Newquay Community Fire Station and St Columb Community Fire Station were mobilised.
“On arrival the property was well alight with the fire spreading to the interior. The crew acted quickly to prevent the incident escalating. We were soon backed up by oncoming appliances and worked together to extinguish the fire.”
Padstow remained on scene damping down and checking for hotspots, returning to station at 12:30pm.
