A dream of establishing Cornwall’s first public-access distillery is well on its way to becoming a reality with a crowdfunding campaign already reaching over 60% of its funding goal.
Loveday Distilling is trying to raise £20,000 via Crowdfunder to enable it to move to a new location on the Tregoniggie Industrial Estate in Falmouth.
Founders Chloe Gillat and Daisy Hillier wants to host year-round events, including tours, tastings, and talks, and supper clubs. It will also be open weekly as a taproom.
Within just 48 hours of launch on August 29, the campaign hit 50% of its target, and momentum continues to build.
“We are blown away by the response so far,” said Chloe. “It seems our community agrees that building a distillery taproom in Falmouth is a good idea!
“There’s now over 125 backers, and we’re so grateful for the incredible support. Now we’re calling on everyone to help us cross the finish line and create a space that will be a lasting part of Falmouth’s hospitality landscape.”
Since 2021, Loveday has been creating handcrafted spirits and hosting tastings and gatherings in their distillery.
The funds raised will go toward essential upgrades at the new location, including seating, lighting, a bar and kitchenette, and other installation costs. In return, backers can choose from a range of exclusive rewards, from limited-edition distillations to event tickets and vouchers.
Loveday say the new distillery and taproom will be a first for Falmouth, adding a year-round venue for both locals and tourists.
Chloe continued. “With a space that’s great for groups and visitors regardless of the weather, we’ll be adding a new space to Cornwall’s already incredible food and drink scene.”
Daisy said: “We want this to be a place where everyone feels welcome. Whether you’re coming for a drink, an event, or just to meet up with friends, we aim to create a space that feels like home to everyone in the community.
“To see so much support for this next step is incredibly heartwarming. We’re excited to see how far we can go with the continued backing of our wonderful supporters.”
Loveday Distilling’s award-winning spirits have already made waves across the UK, with over 35,000 bottles enjoyed both locally and internationally.
