This year marks a significant milestone for Origin Coffee.

For the past 20 years, Origin - which was founded in Cornwall in 2004 has changed the speciality coffee scene in Cornwall and beyond.

Founded by coffee enthusiast Tom Sobey, Origin has quickly gained popularity for its innovative roasting techniques, and commitment to building strong relationships with coffee producers worldwide.

“The last two decades have been an incredible journey of discovery, ambitious growth and conscious collaboration,” said Tom Sobey, CEO and founder of Origin.

“We’re privileged to have built a network of coffee professionals and to have been at the forefront of pioneering the industry of speciality coffee.”

Since its establishment, Origin Coffee has welcomed new shops in Porthleven, London, Bristol and Edinburgh.

In 2020, the business became B Corp accredited, something which Origin stated was its ‘biggest milestone in its sustainable journey.’

Just two years later, Origin was named in the Queen’s Awards for Sustainable Development.
“We’ve celebrated some big and small wins over the years – sharing in the triumphs of our farmers, producers, customers and staff with equal measure,” Origin said.

“The Queen’s Award for Sustainable Development felt pretty special. The recognition is a testament to our environmental and social ethos, which has sat at the heart of our business since day one.”

A Celebration of Partnership and Discovery

To celebrate 20 years, Origin is collaborating with three long-standing producers: Fernando Lima, Erwin Mierisch and Carlos Pola. Each producer has crafted an exclusive, small-batch coffee, pushing boundaries with processing techniques and showcasing the unique flavours of their region. To mark the anniversary, Origin is launching speciality blends of coffee To mark the anniversary, Origin is launching speciality blends of coffee (Image: Origin)

Each coffee will showcase modern fermentations, processing and flavours ranging from pink lemonade and honeydew melon to sparkling wine.
These birthday blends will be roasted and shipped in early October and are now available to pre-order from the Origin website.
