Every holiday can have its ups and downs – but the steepness of Cornwall’s hills took one visitor completely by surprise today.
The need for a good handbrake was highlighted this afternoon (Monday) when police posted a picture of a car that had rolled on a particularly steep example above a Cornish beach.
The handbrake of the white Ford KA appears to have failed while it was parked on the hill leading down to Polzeath beach.
And according to Devon and Cornwall Police’s Roads Policing Team it wasn’t even the first time it had happened today.
The team posted a picture on the social media site X, with a warning to anyone planning to visit Cornwall that they should ensure their car is in good condition to avoid such incidents.
They said: “Remember if you're coming to Cornwall that we have a lot of hills and you need a good handbrake.
“Second vehicle today that has had to be recovered due to manageable defects, resulting in collisions.”
