The Design Mawnan Park and Village Fete has been judged a tremendous success.

The event took place at Mawnan Junior Playing Field and Mawnan Bowling Club on Tuesday, September 3.

Around 300 people attended the event, with well over £1,000 raised for Mawnan Junior Playing Field Trust.

The fete was not just about fun and games; it was a community consultation event to gather ideas on how to transform the "neglected" Mawnan Junior Playing Field into a well-equipped green space for the community.

The project is being led by councillor Shiona Biggin for Mawnan Parish Council, while the event's design session was run by playground designers Earth Wrights.

Attendees were given the opportunity to voice their opinions on the future of the playground and design new equipment.

The fete featured a variety of activities, including a fancy dress parade, face painting, crafts, and food stalls.

The free-to-enter event raised funds for future playground equipment thanks to donations and activities.

Councillor John Bastin, ward councillor for Constantine, Mabe, and Mawnan, said: "I was pleased to attend this truly impressive community event, which I had the privilege of supporting in my role as chair of the Falmouth Penryn Community Area Partnership.

"This playing field project will create an inviting community green space for people of all ages to enjoy in Mawnan and the surrounding area.

"Congratulations to Shiona and the dedicated team of volunteers for driving this project forward."

Steve Kimberley, of Kimberley’s Independent Estate Agents, who served as the event compere and main sponsor of the competition prizes, said: "It was a pleasure to be involved in such a well-organised event.

"The turnout was fantastic, the weather was perfect, and I’m thrilled that we were able to raise a significant amount for such a worthy cause."
