Helston Central Methodist Church has shared its gratitude to the team at a local estate agent after they contributed £500 towards new seating for the Epworth Hall.

This week, Rev Danny Reed from the church popped into Christophers Estate Agents on Wendron Street where he was presented with a cheque for £500 from company director Patricia Christophers.

Danny has now shared his sincere thanks to Christophers for the donation and the continued support for the Helston community.

“We have been so very blessed by Christopher’s Estate Agents in the past, and most certainly now,” Danny told the Packet.

“Christophers not only play a valuable role as estate agents but give generously to the community around them.”

In September 2023 the Packet reported that Helston Methodist Church would be holding a series of fundraisers in an attempt to raise funds for the new seating. Fundraisers included a sponsored head shave evening, a fashion show and a garden party.

Alan Christophers from Christophers Estate Agents said the team were ‘delighted’ to be able to contribute to the new seating. He said: “Christophers Estate Agents were delighted to contribute to the fund to provide new seating in the Epworth Hall.

“The cost of each new seat at the community venue is £350 and a total of £79,000 is required. The good news is that as a result of many fundraising activities, they (Helston Methodist Church) are well over halfway to the target.”

The Epworth Hall in Coinagehall Street is currently used for regular theatre productions, including as the home of Helston Theatre Company, as well as by dance and judo groups, the Flora Day rehearsals each year and for some community events.

Epworth Hall manager, Sarah Reed explained to the Packet why new seating was required in 2023: “The seats at the minute have a limited life span because they were bought second-hand and although they are great, a new set would give people with an added disability more help with a handrail mounted up the steps and lights on the steps to guide them during performances.”
