More than £20,000 has been awarded to 17 organisations in Helston from Helston Town Council's annual grants

The grants allocate funds from a £25,000 budget to support local organisations and initiatives in the town.

At the council's full meeting on Thursday (September 19), councillors discussed and agreed on which organisations would receive a grant this year.

A total of £21,010 was awarded to the successful applicants.

Successful applicants are as follows:

2nd Helston Brownies
The brownies were awarded £400 to contribute towards a trip to Trevassack Lake, which includes a two-course dinner and water sports bag.

Act 1
The youth theatre group received £800 from the council to help with performance costs.

Cirk Hes
The circus skills workshop received £500 to support its winter showcase, which will feature students of all ages.

Helston Athletic Football Club
Helston AFC, which is progressing rapidly in the league, received £5,000 to fund new toilet facilities, covered seating, and additional seating.

Helston Age Concern
Helston Age Concern received £1,200 from the council to pay for entertainment before lunches on Mondays.

Helston CIC
To help with Helston CIC's "Discover Helston Through Your Window" project, Helston Town Council awarded the organisation £300.

Helston Cricket Club
Helston Cricket Club received £3,000 to create better seating areas for players, with more space allowing for a larger viewing area for supporters and spectators. The grant will also fund a new disabled ramp.

Helston Friendship Group
The Helston Friendship Group will enjoy a festive Christmas lunch thanks to the council's contribution of £300.

Helston Netball Club
Helston Netball Club received £800 to purchase new posts and balls.

Helston Town Band
Helston Town Band will use its grant of £2,500 to repair its headquarters, which requires considerable renovation work.

Lizard Child Trust
The Lizard Child Trust was awarded £1,500.

MaDet (Music and Dance Education Trust)
MaDet received £1,050 to host workshops for children at the Museum of Cornish Life.

Mayes Creative Ltd
Mayes Creative LTD, an organisation that encourages people to explore the world through science, heritage, technology, and the environment, received £500 to support a series of creative walks.

Nature Connects CIC
The council agreed that £1,000 should go towards wellbeing sessions for people in Helston.

Pentreath Ltd
Pentreath Ltd will use its £960 grant to offer free fruit and vegetables at each monthly meeting of the Live Well with Diabetes Group.

Porthleven Judo
Porthleven Judo will now be able to offer sessions for three- to five-year-olds thanks to a grant of £300.

South Kerrier Alliance
South Kerrier Alliance received £800 for the purchase of a Pétanque Piste. The Alliance said that Pentenque is a sociable and easily accessible sport.

Unsuccessful Applications
Helston Town Council received applications from CAST, Helston Art Group, Helston Chamber Choir, and Helston Rugby Club. However, these applications were not selected for funding.
