The heartbroken owner of one-of-a-kind earrings with huge sentimental value has appealed for their safe return after they were lost while on a trip to Cornwall.

Sue Cooper had stayed overnight in Penzance earlier this month, ahead of an onward journey to the Isles of Scilly.

In the excitement of leaving for the trip, she left behind in her room a pair of solitaire diamond earrings that were made especially for her by her late father, Len Cooper.

While not massively valuable in terms of resale cost, they are irreplaceable to Sue as Len’s intention was to create a lifetime gift for his daughter, before he died.

They were meant to be a lasting gift, a perpetual memory of a father's love, and Sue wore them constantly - keeping her dad close to her every day.

But on September 4, when Sue came to Penzance on her way to the Isles of Scilly, what was supposed to be a dream holiday began with a disaster.

The precious earrings, along with another pair in silver and blue enamel, were left behind when she checked out of Penzance’s Premier Inn – and nothing has been heard of them since.

“My heart broke when dad died, and now it feels like I'm losing him all over again."

In her search for the earrings Sue has contacted local pawnshops and made Facebook appeals but no trace of the earrings has been found.

Now Sue is appealing directly to the people of Penzance to help her find them and is offering a reward to anyone who can help her retrieve the earrings, with no questions asked.

"I'm just devastated to have lost my beloved dad's earrings," added Sue.

"They were a daily personal link between my dad and me, and I'm appealing to anyone who might have found them - please, please help me to get them back."

They were inside a small tortoiseshell-brown ring box, along with another much-loved pair of silver earrings, decorated with an enamel spiral motif in blue and turquoise.

Premier Inn told Sue they had searched for the ring box but had been unable to find it.

Anyone who may have found the earrings can contact the Packet, anonymously if preferred, to arrange for them to be returned to Sue.
