Firefighters from across Cornwall battled a blaze at a derelict hotel in Newquay this afternoon (Monday).
Crews from Newquay, St Columb, and Perranporth responded to a report of smoke coming from the rear and side of the hotel on Narrowcliff Road in Newquay at around 12.53pm.
Upon their arrival, crews confirmed that smoke was issuing, and firefighters located a fire on the second floor of the hotel.
A triple extension ladder along with breathing apparatus, a main jet, and a thermal imaging camera were used to extinguish the fire.
The incident has now been passed on to Devon and Cornwall Police, who are investigating the cause of the blaze.
A Cornwall Fire and Rescue spokesperson said: “The cause of the fire was doubtful, and the incident details have been passed to police. There are no further details available on this incident.”
A spokesperson for Devon and Cornwall Police said: "Police were notified at around 1.15pm on Monday 23 September to reports of a fire at a derelict building in Newquay.
"Enquiries are ongoing as to the cause of the fire."
