What will happen to animals at Dairyland after it closes?

It follows the shock news this morning that the popular tourist attraction near Newquay is to close for good this November, with its owners revealing the park has sustained "significant financial loss every year" since they took over in 2019. 

The closure has led people to wonder what will happen to the animals on the site after it closes.

The park is home to 11 different breeds of cow and 13 ponies, as well as three donkeys called Harry, Nelson and Gizmo. As well as this, it is also home to four sheep, three llamas, goats, birds (including chickens, ducks and geese), and smaller animals such as rabbits and guinea pigs.

However, Dairyland has spoken to reassure anyone concerned that the much-loved animals will all be found new homes. 

In a statement shared on Facebook this morning, Dairyland said: “We will find all of our animals new homes where they will be loved and treasured, as they have been at Dairyland.”

The park has also shared an email address for people who wish to enquire about the animals. This is farm@dairylandfarmpark.com

One person said: “Absolutely gutted to read this! Such a shame and big loss for the area,” while another commented: “What a shame - I am so sorry these hard times have made it impossible for you to continue. I drive past every day to and from work and will miss your Christmas lights. A sad loss for Cornwall.”

Dairyland will officially close on Sunday, November 3 at 5pm. It will remain open during the October half-term in the lead-up to Halloween.
