As the crisp autumn air descends upon us, there’s nothing quite like settling down in a nice cosy pub.

With their crackling fireplaces, warm lighting, and inviting atmosphere, pubs offer a perfect escape from the chilly weather.

Two pubs in Cornwall have been named among others in the UK for their cosiness, by the Good Food Guide.

The prestigious guide has included St Kew Inn, Bodmin and The Gurnard’s Head, Zennor in its list.

Here are the pubs in Cornwall which have been named the cosiest by The Good Food Guide:

The Good Food Guide praised the Gurnard for its 'cosily weatherproof' ambience, complete with open fires and comfy sofas, perfect for enjoying an ale or cider in the bar. The pub's vibrant dining room, adorned with scrubbed-wood tables and paintings, sets a welcoming tone.

The Gurnard's menu is a showcase of local flavours, featuring a selection of freshly landed seafood dishes and hearty meat options like braised beef short rib and duck leg served with wild garlic.

Desserts, which the Good Food Guide described as 'heart-warming and comforting.' The sticky toffee pudding, topped with a dollop of Cornish clotted cream, was a particular stand-out for the guide.

St Kew Inn | Bodmin

TripAdvisor Rating: 4/5 (out of 1,386 reviews) Google Rating: 4/7 (out of 1,146 reviews)

St Kew Inn at Bodmin St Kew Inn at Bodmin (Image: Google Maps) The Good Food Guide noted that St Kew dates back to the reign of Edward IV and strives to cater to the diverse needs of a village pub.

Inside, the Bodmin pub boasts four dining areas, each brimming with a welcoming atmosphere. The kitchen also adheres to the principle of offering a wide range of options.

The guide praised the 'speculative' menu, which features dishes like chicken Caesar salad, beer-battered haddock, and short rib cheeseburgers with pickles and fries.

For the more adventurous, there are intriguing options such as raw scallops with ponzu, brown crab emulsion, and apple and beetroot gnocchi with courgettes, romesco, and feta.

St Kew welcomed celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay earlier this year

Desserts at St Kew were also a standout, with the Good Food Guide highlighting the ultimate comfort pudding: sticky toffee pudding with toffee sauce. Other options included poached pineapple with coconut ice and Cornish cheese.

And if you're visiting on a Sunday, don't miss the hearty roasts, featuring apple-smoked sirloin and pork belly with all the trimmings.
