Mullion Village Garden has celebrated winning the Green Flag Community Award for the tenth year in a row.
The garden, located in the heart of Mullion on the Lizard Peninsula, is one of only four sites in Cornwall to receive the international accreditation this year.
The Green Flag Community Award is given to quality sites managed by voluntary and community groups.
Mullion Village Garden, an oasis for the community, offers a tranquil space for relaxation and socialising, with its granite fountain, fragrant roses, and colourful bedding areas.
Volunteers from Mullion in Bloom have now organised a gathering in the Village Garden to celebrate the achievement.
Chair of Mullion in Bloom, Louise Martin, expressed gratitude to all the contributors and shared the garden's journey since its opening in 2002.
Inez Williams-King, the judge representing the Green Flag Community Award Scheme, explained the reasons behind the garden's continued success in securing the award.
The Green Flag was then officially presented and will be displayed in the garden.
The St Mellanus Singers provided entertainment, performing traditional Cornish favourites.
The garden, adopted by Mullion Parish Council following the village's regeneration, was formally opened in 2002.
It was first entered for the award in 2014, with Mullion in Bloom volunteers dedicating their free time throughout the year to maintain and enhance the Village Garden and village displays.
Mullion in Bloom said it appreciates the support of Mullion Parish Council, which aids in funding local contractors.
This collaboration provides the expertise and manpower necessary to uphold the garden's high standards.
The Green Flag Community Award scheme acknowledges and rewards well-managed parks and green spaces, establishing a global benchmark for green space management.
Any public green space can apply for a Green Flag Award, but organisations must renew their status each year.
Mullion Village Garden, with its rich history and dedicated volunteers, continues to be a treasured asset for the community, reflecting the high standards set by the Green Flag Community Award scheme.
