Pedal 4 Patients has raised over £35,000 and counting for the Royal Cornwall Hospitals Charity.

The annual three-day cycling event, which took place on September 19, saw 25 cyclists from across the country come together to ride 200 miles across Cornwall.

Cyclists, of all ages and abilities, rode through the countryside and beaches, with regular refreshment stops along the way.

Pendennis Shipyard provided a lunch stop for the cyclists.

The event concluded at the Royal Cornwall Hospital on day three, where the cyclists were greeted with a hero’s welcome.

Friends and family of the cyclists were there to congratulate them with cheers, homemade banners, and freshly baked cakes.

The cyclists were also awarded Pedal 4 Patients medals.

"Once again, Pedal 4 Patients has brought together a diverse group of people with one goal, and their achievement as a team is incredible.

"We cannot thank our riders and their supporters enough."

The event was supported by safety riders and local companies Sustrans, Lifestar Medical and Keir Construction, who provided safety, logistics and technical back-up.

The charity is working to enable staff at the Royal Cornwall Hospitals to diagnose and treat patients faster and help loved ones feel more comfortable.

Karen Murrish, fundraising manager for the Royal Cornwall Hospitals Charity, added: "In the fourth year of running Pedal 4 Patients, it is still an honour to share the challenge journey with our participants.

"From the point of registration through to the finish line, the highlights and challenges are all part of what makes the event such an all-round experience – lifelong friends and lasting memories for one and all."
