Parking enforcement is set to return theย centre of Truro from next month, Truro BID has announced.

In a post on Facebook During November parking enforcement will return to Boscawen Street.

This means that the only vehicles permitted to drive through Boscawen St are buses and taxis. The only vehicles permitted to drive through and park in Boscawen St are commercial vehicles loading and unloading, along with blue badge holders.

Cormac will remove the current road markings on Boscawen Street overnight on Monday, November 4 2024 and add the new road markings, to enable enforcement of the waiting and loading restrictions Tuesday on 5 November 2024. The new signposts for the restrictions should be installed prior to these dates.

Cormac is sending a letter drop to local residents as well as using social media since there could be some noise on both nights when the road marking are being updated.

The construction team will be looking to start road marking around 6pm โ€“ 7pm on both dates so that they can complete the markings as quickly as possible.

Laying the road markings, especially on setts (cobbles) is weather dependent so Cormac will keep us updated with progress.

In 2021 Healthy Streets Truro introduced a 12-month trial scheme in Boscawen Street as the first step towards a wider project to develop a new vision for Truro, to ensure that the city centre is accessible to all parts of the community.

The aim was to reduce in traffic to create more space for people to walk and cycle safely, while the use of colourful new planters, filled with wildlife friendly plants and shrubs provided by Cormac, together with new areas of seating, will encourage more people to visit and shop in the city centre.

It was designed to help regenerate the city at the same time as increasing opportunities for walking, cycling and bus use โ€“ together with space for staging community events โ€“ the scheme is part of the wider ambition to promote sustainable transport and tackle climate change.
