The owner of the “best chippy in Falmouth” has announced that he is closing its doors for the final time this weekend.
Gerald Henn, 61, who has run Bos’s Chippy in Boslowick, Falmouth for the past 15 years, made the announcement on Facebook today (Tuesday) that this Saturday (October 12) would be the business’s last day open.
Mr Henn said he had decided not to renew the lease on the shop and take early retirement instead.
Mr Henn moved down to Cornwall from the Midlands 20 years ago and bought the fish and chip shop in Lanner before taking over the former Perham’s Fish and Chip Shop takes run by Mark and Charlotte Perham and renaming it Bos’s Chippy.
Commenting on closing the shop, Mr Henn said he felt it was time to do all the things he’d wanted to do in his life.
“The customers have been fantastic,” he told the Packet. “It is sad it has come to this but would like to thank all my customers for their fantastic support over the last 15 years, wouldn’t have been here if it wasn’t for them.”
The news was greeted with dismay by many customers on Facebook who said his shop would be greatly missed.
