After trading in Truro for three decades, a bookseller has moved his business to what he calls a “thriving” Falmouth.
Guy Doncaster closed his shop Just Books in Pydar Mews a year ago and since then has been trading primarily online.
However he has reopened Just Books, but this time it is in St Georges Arcade, Church Street, Falmouth, right in the heart of the town centre.
Usual trading hours are between 12noon and 4pm, except for Wednesdays and Sundays when the shop is closed. The shop which trades in vintage and second-hand books is specialising in children’s books, art and books about Cornwall.
The business traded in Truro for over three decades, having previously been in Pydar Mews, within the city centre.
Proprietor Guy says: “It’s very exciting to be based in Falmouth, as it’s a thriving town centre with a good range of independent shops and amenities, as well as a great seaside location.
“The town has an interesting demographic, with a varied mixture of locals, visitors and students”.
Mr Doncaster added “It’s a bookish town, with two great existing second-hand bookshops, a book pub and an independent bookshop selling new books, as well as a radical bookshop and café Rubicund trading next door to us, making Falmouth the key location for book buyers to visit in Cornwall.”
As well as selling books about Cornwall, vintage children's books and art books, Just Books stocks a wider range of books and some other collectable items such as ephemera and postcards.
