Newquay Foodbank is calling on the community to help ensure that everyone in the area will be able to enjoy a Christmas meal this year.

To help raise essential funds to provide vital food parcels and support to families in need this Christmas, the foodbank has launched a Christmas crowdfunding campaign.

Newquay Foodbank has a goal to ensure that no one in the community will go hungry or feel alone during the festive season.

Last year, thanks to donations from the public and local organisations, the foodbank based on St Michael’s Road was able to support more than 700 people at Christmas. However, this year, it is expecting an increase in demand, meaning that donations are needed more than ever before.

A spokesperson from Newquay Foodbank said: “The crowdfunding campaign will run for six weeks, starting at the beginning of October.

“The funds raised will be used to purchase food items and other essential goods that people need this Christmas.

“We have several different parcel options, catering for individuals, couples and families. Each parcel will provide enough food to last for several days, ensuring that everyone has a nourishing and festive meal.”

To ensure that no one goes hungry this Christmas, Newquay Foodbank is looking to raise £5,000 through its Christmas Crowdfunder campaign.

To break things down, here’s how much each food parcel costs to produce:

  • £27: one person
  • £40: two people
  • £60: A family of four

Each food parcel contains:

  • A butcher’s meat voucher
  • Vegetables
  • Christmas pudding
  • Chocolates
  • A selection of Christmas snacks

The funds raised will be used to purchase food items, toiletries, and other essential goods to include in Christmas food parcels, alongside our standard food parcels.

Individuals and organisations looking to support the campaign can donate directly to the Crowdfunder page.

Additionally, the foodbank is accepting donations of non-perishable food items and toiletries at our drop-off locations throughout the community.

“We are grateful for the generosity and support of our community. Every donation, no matter how small, makes a significant difference in the lives of those who rely on our services,” the spokesperson from Newquay Foodbank added.
