Two people sustained serious injuries this morning (Monday) following a collision between a school bus and a car in Mullion.

Emergency services were called to the scene on Meaver Road just before 8:40 AM.

Witnesses reported seeing and hearing emergency vehicles heading towards the scene from Helston. Additionally, the coastguard was seen flying low over the area before landing in a nearby field.

Police confirmed that two individuals travelling in the car were seriously injured and transported to the hospital for treatment. Their next of kin have been informed.

Four children on the school bus were also treated for minor injuries.

The road is expected to remain closed for an extended period as emergency services continue to investigate the incident.

A force spokesperson said: “Police were called to reports of a road traffic collision involving a school bus and a car, on Meaver Road, Mullion, at around 8.40am today, Monday 14 October.

“Two people, who were travelling in the car, have sustained serious injuries and have been taken to hospital for treatment. Their next of kin have been informed.

“Four children on the bus have been treated for minor injuries.

“Emergency services are at the scene and are working with partner agencies to deal with the situation.

“Local road closures have been put in place and are expected to remain so for some time.”

Parents of children attending Mullion School have shared on social media that their children sustained minor injuries in the crash.

Mullion Community Fire Station has advised that Meaver Road will likely remain closed until this evening and urged drivers to exercise caution on all roads due to the “greasy wet and slippery conditions.”
