Residents across Cornwall are being urged to ‘take care’ as flood alerts have been issued for numerous areas throughout the Duchy.
Nine areas across Cornwall and Devon are currently at risk due to heavy rainfall and saturated catchments.
Affected Areas:
- Helford and Fal Rivers: The Lizard, Penryn, Falmouth, Truro, Ladock, Tresillian, and Grampound.
- Middle River Tamar: Polson Bridge, Horsebridge, Gunnislake, Lifton, and Sydenham.
- North Cornwall Rivers: Newquay, Padstow, Wadebridge, Sladesbridge, Bodmin, Lanivet, Boscastle, and Camelford.
- River Fowey: Lostwithiel, The Glynn Valley, Trago Mills, and St Neot.
- River Lynher: Rame Peninsula, Callington, Saltash, Rilla Mill, Pillaton, and Landrake.
- River Plym and Tory Brook: Plympton, Coypool, Newnham Park, Marsh Mills, Clearbrook, and Meavy.
- St Austell and Par Rivers: Pentewan, St Blazey, Luxulyan, and Mevagissey.
- Upper River Tamar: Bude, Helebridge, Bridgerule, Canworthy Water, Launceston, and Yeolmbridge.
- West Cornwall Rivers: Penzance, Newlyn, Crowlas, Porthleven, St Ives, Hayle, Camborne, Portreath, and Perranporth.

Flooding is possible today (Oct 16) after overnight rain, with more heavy rain expected later.
Avoid exposed coastal paths, promenades, and never walk or drive through floodwater.

GOV UK Website Warnings:
According to the GOV.UK website, flooding is expected to occur throughout Wednesday due to persistent rainfall.
River levels are anticipated to remain high, leading to flooding of low-lying lands and roads. Surface water flooding is also a possibility in certain areas.
However, weather conditions are expected to improve starting Wednesday evening and continuing into Thursday.
