The Environment Agency has issued numerous flood alerts for Cornwall at high tide this evening, including for the Fal Estuary.
Flooding is possible over the high tide on Friday evening. High water at Falmouth is at 6:44pm; times of high water will vary along the coast.
Flood alert area includes the tidal Fal Estuary at Falmouth, Penryn, Flushing, Perranarworthal, Truro and Tresillian.
There is also a flood alert for South Cornwall coast from Lizard Point to Gribbin Head including Lizard Point to Gribbin Head including Coverack, the tidal Helford Estuary, Falmouth, St Mawes, Gorran Haven, Portmellon, Mevagissey, Pentewan and Par.
Spring tides peak on Friday evening and are forecast to cause flooding between 5:44pm and 7:44pm. A flood warning is also in force.
Locations more at risk include low lying areas and roads along the Fal Estuary, which may be flooded. Do not walk or drive through flood water.
Tide levels are lower for Saturday’s high tides, however, flooding to low lying land and roads is still possible and a flood alert remains in force.
Unsettled weather conditions are expected to cause further flooding over Sunday morning’s high tide; flood warnings will be issued where required.
The Environment Agency says it is monitoring the situation and will update this information by 11am on Saturday, or if the situation changes.
The forecast high tide level at Falmouth is 2.92m AOD. Expect tide levels along the coast to be between 0.1 and 0.2m above tide table level. Force 5 southerly winds and offshore wave heights of up to 2m are forecast over the high tide.
Other flood alerts include for North Cornwall coast from Land’s End to Chapel Porth.
With flooding is possible over the high tide on Friday evening. High water at St Ives is at 6:33pm, times of high water will vary along the coast.
Spring tides are peaking on Friday evening and are forecast to cause flooding between 5:33pm and 7:33pm.
Flood alert area: Lands End to Chapel Porth including Sennen, St Ives, Carbis Bay, Lelant, Hayle, Portreath and Porthtowan.
A Flood alert for South Cornwall coast from Gribbin Head to Rame Head including Gribbin Head to Rame Head including Fowey, Golant, Lostwithiel, Lerryn, Polruan, Polperro, Looe and the Looe Rivers and Seaton.
