The family of a woman who died in a crash on the A30 on Tuesday evening have paid tribute to a “beautiful, loyal and funny” woman.

Clare Laskey, aged 47, from The Lizard, died when the car she was travelling in as a passenger was involved in a collision with a lorry on the A30 at Whiddon Down, near Okehampton in Devon.

Her family posted a tribute on social media on Saturday lunchtime and have given permission for the Packet to share it. The post has now also been shared by police. 

The tribute reads: “Clare’s family and Thurstan are devastated by the loss of our beautiful, loyal and funny daughter, partner, sister and aunt, in such tragic circumstances.

“She will be sadly missed by us all including her friends and the amazing Lizard community.

“Forever in our hearts.”

In some of the many tributes, Clare has been described as “one in a million” and “a lovely soul”, with one person writing: “It just won’t be the same place without Clare around.”

In an update from Devon and Cornwall Police on Monday, a force spokesperson said a 60-year-old man who was also involved in the collision was taken to hospital for his injuries but has since been released.

They added: "An investigation was carried out at the scene. Officers from the Roads Policing Team would like to thank the public for their patience whilst this took place.

"Police would still like anyone with any relevant information or dash-cam footage which may assist the investigation to get in touch via our website or by calling 101 quoting log 0835 15/10/2024."

The two-vehicle collision took place at around 10pm on Tuesday, October 15, involving a silver Kia Ceed and a Scania articulated lorry.
