Five Cornwall eateries have been named among the best spots for pizza in the whole of the UK.

This included the restaurants Onzo Pizzeria in St Ives and Verdant Taproom in Penryn, alongside three separate food trucks that visit various Cornish locations.

They were featured in a list from The Times that compiled the 50 best pizza places in the UK.

Discussing the creation of the list, the publication shared that foodies "are seeking out independent pizza restaurants and bakers who experiment with their fermentation and flours".

They added: "Plus, the rise of collaborations between pizza chefs and restaurants means you’re never just eating a margherita. Yard Sale Pizza collaborates with some of London’s most iconic restaurants, such as the Punjabi institution Tayyabs in Whitechapel."

Writer Hannah Evans spoke to "some of the best pizza chefs in the country" in order to compile some of the best spots to visit.

Onzo is described as "a cosy Neopolitan pizzeria with a brilliant cocktail and wine list".

It is perched on the harbourfront of St Ives in the old lifeboat station and is the "perfect place to watch the sunset".

Verdant Taproom

Verdant Brewery is well-loved for its "award-winning ales" and IPAs, but also has a reputation for great slices of Neopolitan pizza served in the Taproom.

Ansum Food Co

Ansum Food Co operates its food truck in a number of north Cornwall locations such as Mawgan Porth, Tregurrian, Padstow, Newquay and St Eval.

Seeing the converted 1978 wooden-clad French horse box hails the arrival of "brilliant, wood-fired-oven pizza, cooked with produce from local farms".

Flour Power

Husband and wife duo Rebecca and Simon Davies operate their Flour Power food van in places such as Portreath, Hayle, Porthtowan, Truro, Devoran and Perranporth.

They use multigrain dough to make their pizza which is rested for three days before being topped with local produce.

It is recommended to get the white base pizza with Cornish sausage, roast potatoes and cheddar.
