The countdown to Christmas has officially begun with nominations being sought for a local hero or heroes to switch on this year’s Falmouth Christmas lights.
The nominations for this year’s Falmouth Christmas Lights Switch-on open from October 24.
The lights will be switched by an individual or community group in front of hundreds of people on Thursday, November 28.
As one of the most anticipated events in the town’s events calendar, the Christmas Lights Switch-On marks the official start to the festive season in Falmouth.
As usual, the community will have the opportunity to nominate local heroes to take centre stage and illuminate the town.
Whether it’s a volunteer who has gone above and beyond, a young person who has inspired others, or an unsung hero, this is an opportunity to honour those who have made a positive impact on the town.
Nominations can be sent via email to ruth@falmouth.co.uk or by phoning the Town Team office on 01326 313553, before the deadline of Midday on Thursday 21st November 21.
Details should include the nominee’s name, a brief description of why they deserve to be recognised and their contact details.

The lucky individual or group selected will need to be free from 5.30pm to 8pm on the evening of the switch-on.
Falmouth Town Manager, Richard Gates, said: “The Christmas Lights Switch-on brings the community together by celebrating those that make Falmouth such a special place to live or work.
“By nominating local heroes, we hope to shine a light on their contributions to the town and give them the recognition they deserve. We look forward to receiving nominations and sharing the festive spirit with everyone on the 28th of November!”

FALMOUTH CHRISTMAS LIGHTS SWITCH-ON EVENT DETAILS Date: Thursday 28th November 2024 Location: The Moor, Falmouth TR11 3QA Timings (approximate) 5.30pm – Sing Choir will get everyone into festive cheer on The Moor 5.40pm – The festive parade with local school children, led by Kernow Pipes and Drums, will leave Events Square and process along the main streets before finishing on The Moor.
6.15pm – Local schools perform carols and Christmas songs.
7.00pm – The big switch-on!
7.05pm – Further performance from Rock Choir so you can savour the atmosphere a little while longer.
