The Cornwall Branch of the Campaign for Real Ale, CAMRA Kernow, has announced the Star Inn as its next pub of the season.
The Star Inn at Vogue won by a resounding number after a vote at a recent branch meeting of CAMRA Kernow to become the pub of the season for Autumn 24/25.
It now becomes the third pub to go into the final for the Cornwall CAMRA pub of the year 2025.
Licensees Mark and Rachel Graham said: “This is great news for the pub and the team at the Star Inn. Thank you CAMRA for this award.”
A spokesperson for CAMRA said: “This deserving winner is an innovative community focussed village inn and offers library and hairdressing services alongside numerous other activities and events.
“Obviously the beer is always spot-on and five changing real ales are served by knowledgeable, friendly staff.”
Chair of Cornwall CAMRA will be making the presentation to coincide with the Star’s beer festival on Saturday, November 16.
The 200-year-old pub hit the headlines in 2022 when it was threatened with a lawsuit by international magazine Vogue due to its similar name.
However, the company sent a letter of apology to Mark and Rachel when it realised its mistake.
The letter from the team at Vogue Magazine's parent company Condé Nast now takes pride of place in a frame at the pub.
The first 2024/25 Cornwall CAMRA Kernow pub of the season was awarded to The Old Ale House in Truro.
The pub was recognized for its commitment to traditional brewing methods, quality real ale, and welcoming environment.
The Old Ale House was the first pub to compete for the Cornwall CAMRA Pub of the Year 2025.
CAMRA Kernow also named The Moth and the Moon in Falmouth as its 2024 summer pub of the season.
The Moth and the Moon was selected for its ever-changing selection of Cornish real ales, friendly atmosphere, and sunny beer garden. The pub will also compete for the Cornwall CAMRA Pub of the Year 2025.
Pubs are judged on a variety of qualities, including the quality of their real ale and cider, their style and decor, their service and welcome, their community focus and atmosphere, and their alignment with CAMRA principles.
