A technology workspace near Redruth is getting a major internet upgrade.

The FibreHub business centre in Pool is set for a bespoke gigabit-capable fibre broadband installation, thanks to Cornwall broadband provider Wildanet.

This project will support global digital engineering and software solutions specialists Headforwards, as well as the growing community of tech businesses based at FibreHub.

The installation will include two fully-independent gigabit-capable circuits, meeting the need for "always-on" connectivity for Headforwards and their tenants.

It will also provide the capacity for future expansion at FibreHub.

Toby Parkins, co-founder of FibreHub and Headforwards, said: "Reliable, fast internet is a business essential, especially in our sector.

"Dual-routed connectivity means we can provide our FibreHub tenants and users with highly resilient internet connectivity, which can also be faster.

"Cornwall has one of the fastest growing technology sectors outside of London, and excellent connectivity is vital to maintaining that edge.

"This new connection will make a big difference, and it’s also great to be able to work with Wildanet as a fellow Cornish business."

FibreHub opened in 2021 as a specialist workspace for businesses in the digital, technology, and software sectors.

It is currently home to 10 permanent tenants, with more space set to be made available in the coming months.

Wildanet, founded in 2017, aims to bring high-speed internet to rural and hard-to-reach areas in the South West.

The company is rapidly growing its fibre broadband network in the region, transforming connectivity for businesses and communities where it operates.

This year, Wildanet earned the titles of the UK’s Best Rural Fibre Provider at the UK Fibre Awards 2024 and Broadband Provider of the Year at the Connected Britain Awards 2024.

Lawrence Palk, director of B2B sales for Wildanet, said: "Wildanet is already supporting many businesses across the South West as part of our wider roll-out of gigabit-enabled fibre into rural and hard-to-reach areas.

"Headforwards, FibreHub, and the cluster of exciting tech businesses being nurtured there are at the forefront of the development of Cornwall’s digital economy, and we are delighted to be providing a solution which will meet their very specific current and future connectivity needs."
