The Falmouth Hotel was filled with elegant dresses and smart suits on Friday night as the Helston and St Keverne Young Farmers Club (YFC) gathered for their 75th dinner and dance.

Members of the club gathered at the hotel to celebrate another successful year of achievements.

Members gather for a photo Members gather for a photo (Image: Claire Hosken) The highlight of the evening was the announcement of the club's impressive fundraising total of £8,000, which will be donated to the Children’s Unit at Treliske Hospital.

This achievement was made possible thanks to the dedicated efforts of the members and advisory board, along with the generous contributions of supporters throughout the year.

“We are absolutely delighted to have raised £8,000 for the Children’s Unit at Treliske Hospital, as a result of this year’s fundraising efforts, and thanks to the support of all of the Club Members and Advisory, and the generosity and support of all of the club’s supporters throughout the year,” said a club spokesperson.

The evening also saw the presentation of various awards, recognising the outstanding contributions of individual members:

  • Presidents Efficiency Cup (OBE) for the best member of the year: Betty Buchanan
  • Trophy for the best member of the opposite sex to the winner of the Presidents Cup: Owen Williams 
  • Mr G Bikey Proficiency Shield: Martha Richards 
  • Member Gaining the most points in the county competitions: Rhiannon Willey
  • The Silver Salver Under 1: Gracie Crapp
  • The Cup for the member of gains the most points in stock judging competitions: Owen Williams 
  • The cup for most progressive speaker: James Bloomfield
  • The cup for the most enterprising member: Charlotte Gilbert
  • The cup was given to the most improved TOW puller: Ed Buchanan
  • The Cup given for sportsman of the year: Annabell Nicholas
  • The Tankgard for the best enthusiastic girls Tow Puller: Abby Bray
  • The Chairman Award: Tom Williams and Ed Buchanan
  • Jenkin Publicity Cup: Betty and Ellie Lambrick
  • The Presidents Cup: Izzy Dark
  • Angela Cup: Izzy Dark
