An inquest has been opened into the death of a woman and child who died following a crash in Mullion last week.

They have been named by the Cornwall Coroner’s Office as Sian Goffin, listed as aged 30, and Jago Bawden, listed as aged one.

Sian and Jago were involved in a serious collision with a bus transporting Mullion School students on Monday, October 14. The crash took place not far from the school, on Meaver Road, Mullion.

Emergency services, including police, the ambulance service and coastguards were at the scene, with the coastguard helicopter involved in a hospital airlift.

Sian was taken to Derriford Hospital in Plymouth while Jago was rushed to Bristol’s Children's Hospital, both with life-threatening injuries.

Sadly, Sian died on Thursday, October 16 and Jago passed away a day later, October 17.

Since their deaths, heartbroken relatives of the partner of Sian and dad to Jago have set up a GoFundMe page.

The man’s cousins, Amelia and Ewan Bawden, have set up the GoFundMe page to raise money for him and his young son.

On the GoFundMe page, Amelia posted that they are “heartbroken” by an “unimaginable tragedy”.

“We are heartbroken to share that our cousin, has faced an unimaginable tragedy. He lost his baby son, and his partner,” Amelia and Ewan posted.

"As he navigates this profound loss, we want to come together as a family to support him.

“In addition to this devastating loss, our cousin has a young son, who is also grieving the loss of his mummy and little brother.

“While we are painfully aware that we cannot mend this pain, we would like to offer all we can to relieve any unnecessary stress for their family.

“With this in mind, our goal is to raise funds to ease their burden and make life a little bit easier as they try to process their loss.”

They said the financial strain from funeral expenses and everyday needs was overwhelming.

The fundraiser, which has so far raised £1,670, is still open for donations. You can donate here: https://www.gofundme.com/f/support-our-cousin-during-this-heartbreaking-time
