The Polurrian has announced that a planned three-month closure for development works has been delayed.
The works were scheduled to begin in January 2025 and will now commence in the first quarter of 2026.
In August 2023, the Packet revealed that a planning application had been submitted by Polurrian near Mullion in Cornwall proposing an expansion and enhancement of its building to create 15 new hotel bedrooms and a heated swimming pool with a retractable glass roof, together with new wellbeing and spa facilities.

However, Polurrian owner Andrew Long has now announced a delay to the start of the project.
In an email sent to residents and members of the community, Andrew explained in depth why the project would be delayed until 2026.
The email, which has been seen by the Packet, states: “We have been reviewing deliverable timelines for each phase of our proposed construction works, taking into account all necessary complexities for a major project of this nature.
“We are very pleased with how Polurrian has operated since the successful completion of the various previous phases of construction and general improvement work in April this year.”
Andrew added that the positive impact of the investment which has already been made to date over the last two years of ownership has “significantly enhanced the overall customer experience.”
“The first three months of the respective trading year is the only sensible period for the hotel to temporarily close for the start of the major construction works,” Andrew said.
“Whilst we had previously intended to do so in January 2025, we have now recently decided to reschedule the commencement of major works until the beginning of the first quarter in 2026, just over 12 months from now.”
He added: “This enables us to continue with the hotel’s very positive operating momentum, as well as providing further time to fully finalise the remaining detailed elements for our overall construction works to be undertaken most efficiently and productively.”
The Packet has contacted the hotel to ask for any further comment.
