A charity which has helped support women across Cornwall with their mental health has announced it is to end after five years.

Your Voice, Cornwall, CIC shared a sad announcement on its Facebook page this week to its 12,000 followers that due to the rising costs of the organisation, it was “no longer feasible to continue” despite hopes could be seen through.

Natasha Long, the founder of the organisation said in the post: “Unfortunately, since our launch back in 2019, we have been at the bottom of the pile for funding, grants and fundraising efforts. This has finally broken us to the point that we are just not able to survive.

“We so desperately wanted to fight and keep on going but the reserves are just empty.

"We've been through some tough times including the Pandemic, poor health, financial struggles, and some stories that will remain untold.

“Alongside the financial difficulties we are subject to, our directors are struggling with their own health issues which are, of course, impacted by the efforts of keeping the organisation going and it is now imperative that they focus on their health.”

Natasha added: “Your Voice was a small idea that grew and grew and became something to be so proud of.

“It allowed us to meet some fantastic advocates of mental health services and resources, and we consider ourselves lucky to have worked alongside some truly inspirational organisations and charities.

“We have also been so incredibly blessed to have some wonderful ladies onboard, who have so selflessly given their time to facilitate our peer support groups.”

The post also highlighted the dedication, commitment and passion shown by the team, to make a positive impact on women suffering from mental health.

Natasha shared her gratitude to the staff at the Your Voice, Cornwall boutiques, especially after the recent closure of the Helston shop.

“To our fabulous boutique staff, again both past and present, we thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your work, your passion and your commitment to helping us in what we do.

“We have shared some incredible times together and we are so very blessed to consider you our friends.”

She also thanked those who have fundraised for the charity and customers of the boutiques.

Natasha added that the charity will post any groups that can continue to run, with the support of the venue owners and the facilitator, but all groups will now cease. She also apologised for any short notice.

She ended the post, with a message of support to those who are struggling with their mental health.

“In the meantime, to everyone who is finding life a struggle, please just keep swimming. The world needs your light more than you could ever know,” Natasha said.
