For the past 12 years, she has been turning cakes into edible masterpieces, delighting customers in Cornwall. But now, her artistry is taking centre stage on the small screen.
Baker Dawn Hardy of Dawn's Edible Elegance has recently revealed she'll be appearing on the popular CBeebies show, Art Adventures.
It all started back in April when the producers of the show approached her to create some special cakes for the show. Little did Dawn know that they wanted to her appear in the episode herself.
“Initially they were saying what they wanted for the episode, “Dawn told the Packet.
“And then they said we would like you to be in it.”
Filming took place at a coffee shop near Truro, a convenient location for Dawn, who lives in St Keverne.
In the episode, presenters Fred and Pete discuss objects that appear non-edible – but that's when Dawn pops out from behind the counter, revealing her creations.
For the show, Dawn created a delightful selection, including a teddy bear cake, a black top hat cake, and an amazing wooden box pencil case cake that opens and closes, filled with edible pencils and other school supplies.
With the episode able to be watched on BBC iPlayer this Saturday (November 9), Dawn admits a mix of excitement and nerves.
"I'm thrilled, but a little nervous," she said. "I might watch it alone first, then gather everyone to watch it."
Beyond her TV debut, Dawn has been creating personalised cakes for weddings, birthdays and countless other occasions for the last 12 years.
Her dedication has gained recognition. She was named the 2023/24 Personalised Cake Specialist of the Year in the South West of England Prestige Awards and even landed a spot among the top three cake makers in Cornwall in September 2024.

An air date for Dawn’s episode is not yet known. However, all Art Adventure episodes will be able to watch on BBC iPlayer from this Saturday.
