A jumble sale is set to tackle textile waste by giving people the chance to make their own items from the materials - including on site.

The Central Methodist Church in Helston is hosting a 'jumble jamboree' on Saturday, November 16, from 10am to 2pm.

This comes as charity shops and the church have been struggling to manage the textiles they receive.

The event invites people who can create new items from old clothes and materials to attend, aiming to repurpose these textiles instead of them ending up in landfills.

Clothes and bedding will be available at low prices, with sewing machines on hand for attendees to try their skills at upcycling.

Patterns and examples of what can be created will also be provided.

The event organisers said: "Help us recycle and help keep textiles out of landfill.

"All those crafty folk very welcome. All in need of a few new clothes welcome. All those willing to have a go at recycling welcome.

"Anyone willing to help us with textiles and upcycling please let us know."

The event aims to encourage the community to get involved in recycling efforts, regardless of their age or experience.
