In the wake of Flambards Theme Park's sudden closure, a wave of local support has surged, demanding a final opportunity to experience one of its beloved attractions.
Just days after Flambards announced it is to close its doors for the last time, a petition has now been launched to secure a final visit for locals to visit the Victorian Village based at the park.
On Monday (November 4) the Packet announced that Flambards Theme Park in Helston will close its doors permanently with immediate effect.
A statement shared on the Flambards Facebook page said: “It is with great regret we have to announce Flambards Theme Park will close its doors permanently with immediate effect.
“This difficult decision was reached only after all possible avenues had been exhausted and we fully recognise the impact of this closure on the local community and the sense of loss that it may bring.
“Despite significant and ongoing investment since its rescue from closure in 2012 by the current owners, rising costs and a steady decline in visitor numbers have made the park’s operation and further investment unsustainable.
“Over the years, Flambards has strived to evolve, overcoming numerous challenges to continue bringing joy to families and visitors from across the region."
The news which left many devastated, has prompted one local to start a campaign to allow the local community a chance to say farewell to the iconic Victorian Village which has been a popular attraction at the park for years.
Fran Terry who has launched a petition to allow visitors one last chance to visit the legendary attraction at Flambards says he wanted those in power to allow a final visitation period for locals before any drastic changes are made to the Victorian Village and Blitz Exhibition.
On the petition page, Fran said: "“I have cherished memories of the Flambards Victorian Village and Blitz Exhibition, and I know I'm not alone.
"This place has brought joy and fascination to multiple generations of locals and visitors alike.
"No prior notice was given by Flambards about their plans to close this priceless piece of our cultural heritage at the end of the season, thus preventing us, the people who truly value this setting, from having a final opportunity to appreciate the exhibitions.
"We are urging those in power to allow a final visitation period for locals before any drastic changes are made to the Victorian Village and Blitz Exhibition.
"This allows us to bid a proper farewell, reminisce old memories, and impart these experiences upon the younger generation before it is too late."

In addition, Fran has also set up the Flambards Victorian Village Big Farewell Facebook page.
The page now has more than 1.3k visitors, with many sharing their own personal memories and thoughts of the Victorian Village.
One person shared a comment on one of the posts on the page which said: “I would love to bring my kids to view this, which I just haven't had the chance to recently, as I and my siblings LOVED this part of Flambards, and I'm sure my kids will too as well as my siblings and their children.”
Another added: “I would love to return with my family, it used to be a regular visit for us, a big part of our holidays over 30 plus years."
While Flambards has not yet confirmed plans for a final weekend, they have acknowledged the campaign. A spokesperson said: "At this time, we do not have a specific plan to reopen the village for one weekend.
“However, this has been passed on to the company directors and any further information will be posted online."
