A sense of community and agricultural spirit filled the air at Franchis Farm on Saturday as the Helston Fatstock Show returned for 2024.

This year, the 152-year-old winter livestock show welcomed hundreds of visitors to its barn which is located on the Helston to Redruth Road, by Wheal Dream. 

Sheep judging takes placeSheep judging takes place (Image: Helston Packet) Those in attendance enjoyed a variety of activities, including a busy craft market, exhibitions, and, of course, the star attractions - cattle, sheep, and even alpacas.

Mr. Rex Sadler MBE was honoured as the show's president this year. He chose the Cornwall Air Ambulance Heli 2 Appeal as his chosen charity.

The morning was dedicated to livestock and class exhibition judging, while market stalls were open throughout the event.

Children enjoyed petting the livestockChildren enjoyed petting the livestock (Image: Helston Packet) This year's show saw a record number of entries in various categories, including cattle, sheep, farm produce, fruit, and vegetables, and a large domestic section featuring floral art, photography, cookery, preserves, crafts, and eggs.
