A dramatic rescue unfolded at the weekend when a young cow named Chloe became stranded after falling off cliffs in Cornwall.

Chloe the 19-month-old Dexter Heifer is known for her adventurous spirit and love of cliffside grazing, having spent the start of her life in Mevagissey before joining the herd in Ruan Minor.

On Saturday, however, Chloe’s adventurous streak took a turn when she fell off a cliff at Kynance Cove.

The owner of Chloe's herd at Terise Farm near Kuggar, Stephen Bosustow, initially opted to leave Chloe with plenty of food in the hope she would find her own way back.

However, when she remained stranded, a multi-agency rescue operation was launched.

Cornwall Fire and Rescue crews from Mullion and Tolvaddon, along with the expert teams from Amethi Vets and St Clements Veterinary Clinic, joined forces to retrieve Chloe.

Led by Stephen, who also serves as the Chairman of the Helston Fatstock Show, the team successfully pulled Chloe back to safety, demonstrating incredible care and professionalism throughout the operation.

However, the rescue effort had a direct impact on Stephen, as he had to miss the Helston Fatstock Show presentation to assess Chloe's situation and help with the rescue mission.

“Chloe is alive and well, sore but ok,” Natalie told the Packet.

"We have grazed the cliffs for 20 years and this is the first rescue we have had to do.

“Farming is taking a massive hit, and we need to show we do care an awful lot about these animals as whole beings."
