A wine and spirits tasting evening in Cornwall saw more than 160 people getting ready for winter and the festive season.
Held at the Princess Pavilion, Falmouth, the event was hosted by Drink Finder - Constantine Stores.
With 120 different wines and spirits to sample, it was a chance for people to try things they may never have sampled before – with a representative from each of the 12 suppliers on hand to give advice and answer questions.
Every guest was given a tasting booklet in which to make notes, with the drinks separated into reds, whites and roses, and marked if they were vegan or organic.
Andrew Rowe, a director and co-owner of Drink Finder with his brother Mark, said: “It was a very successful evening.
“We had over 160 people in there. Everything went very well.”
The store first started organising such events around seven years ago, but had a break when the pandemic hit.
They resurrected the concept last year and it is now going from strength to strength, with interest growing every time.
“We’re trying to do two a year. We do a winter, Christmas tasting, which we’ve just had, and then do one in the spring as well,” said Andrew.
“This tasting was focused on wines for drinking in the winter, or heading into Christmas, so there were some ports and a few spirits.
“Then we go to the spring tasting and it’s wines to drink in the spring and through the summer.”
The venue for the next one has yet to be confirmed but will be announced on the Drink Finder website and Facebook page.
The wines at the tasting event were among those that Drink Finder - Constantine Stores is now offering free delivery for in the local area.
Customers who buy six or more bottles of wine or spirits in one order can get them delivered to their door for free if they live in Falmouth, Penryn or the route there from Constatine.
“We’re in Constantine and we appreciate some people don’t like coming out on the roads there, so we decided that as we’re out anyway delivering to restaurants and hotels, if someone wants six bottles or more we can drop them off,” explained Andrew.
Deliveries are on Tuesdays and Fridays and orders can be placed via the phone or online. On the website customers can select the ‘click and collect’ option to avoid the postage cost and then write in the notes they would like it delivered (provided their address is eligible).
