The café and toilets at Kynance Cove are to close from the beginning of next month for work to be carried out on the rock faces there.

The National Trust says work will start at the popular tourist spot on The Lizard on November 27 with the café and toilets being closed from December 2.

The work is expected to last until December 20, with the work hopefully finished just in time for Christmas. However the trust says the café and toilets won’t be open until it is safe to do so.

Path diversions will be in place and portable toilets will be available.

Both the popular café and the toilets will be closed and there will be path diversions in place.

In a post on Facebook, the National trust said people should check its website for further insights.

“From the 27th of November to the 20th of December, work will be carried out on the rock faces at Kynance Cove,” said the post.

“From the 2nd of December the cafe and toilets will be closed and there will be path diversions in place.

“There will be portable toilets available and the cafe will open as soon as it is safe to do so.

“Please check our website if visiting within those dates, for updates: https://www.nationaltrust.org.uk/visit/cornwall/kynance-cove “ Luke and Victoria Donovan have run Kynance Cafe and Cottage as a family business since 1999 when the National Trust purchased the premises.

When they first took over there was no electricity, running water or any toilet facilities.

Since then, with help from Objective One funding, Cornwall County Council and South Of England Regional Development Agency, the National Trust have installed mains electricity and water, allowing Kynance Cafe and Cottage to flourish.

The café is usually open from 10am to 3pm with dogs welcome.
