Cornwall residents can recycle unwanted or broken small electrical items at several libraries and leisure centres across the Duchy until January.
Cornwall Council has teamed up with REPIC to provide temporary collection points for small electrical items, including most items with a plug, battery, or cable.
The collected items will then be sent away and recycled.
Electricals the size of a toaster or kettle, or smaller, can be put in the boxes.
Examples include old chargers, mobile phones, cables, hair stylers/driers, handheld kitchen equipment, electrical games, keyboards, speakers, radios, and DVD players.
However, vapes, electrical cigarettes, lightbulbs, loose batteries, or large appliances should not be included.
Councillor Carol Mould, portfolio holder for neighbourhoods at Cornwall Council, said: "I’d like to thank REPIC for providing these boxes and arranging the collections.
"Most of us will have a few broken items in the home which we keep meaning to take to the household recycling centre.
"This is a brilliant initiative, and I hope people make the most of it while it’s in place."
Graeme Milne, chief executive at REPIC, said: "As an industry, we’re united in raising awareness about the importance of recycling end-of-life electricals.
"With 823 million electrical items lying unused in homes, the launch of these collection points will provide an essential service for residents to safely and responsibly recycle.
"It's a simple but effective way for everyone to contribute to reducing the environmental impact of electronic waste, while also enabling the recovery of valuable materials that can be reused."
