Aspects Holidays, a holiday letting agency based in Hayle, donated £580 to the REC cafe in the town to help with their community events this year.

The REC café, run by Hayle resident Nathan Thomas, has become a hub of activity in the park and recreational ground, hosting several community events and weekly clubs.

He took on the café just over a year ago and has since turned it into a thriving community space, organising numerous events and initiatives.

Mr Thomas has even installed a refurbished shipping container to provide sheltered seating, which is the only covered space in the area.

Working in collaboration with the town council and other organisations such as Action for Children, the REC's youth club has helped to reduce anti-social behaviour in the area.

The weekly social clubs have also provided a much-needed meeting space for the elderly, helping to combat loneliness in Cornwall.

Throughout the summer, the REC hosted three outdoor cinema events, each with three screenings, all completely free to attend.

Despite the typical Cornish rain, the screenings went ahead as planned, but the equipment hire and insurance costs were significant.

At the insistence of locals, Mr Thomas set up a crowd funder to cover the cost of the event insurance.

Towards the end of the summer season, with generous donations from the public bringing the total close to £1,000, Aspects Holidays stepped in to donate the final £580, bringing the fundraiser to its target amount of £1,500.

Mr Thomas said: "We are so very grateful to all the donations people have made to help us with our vision and drive to invest in the local community.

"It has been humbling and encouraging to see people recognise our passion to build a thriving community hub at the REC café.

"We are so appreciative to Aspects for giving us the financial gift of £580 which took us up to our crowd funder target to help cover some of the costs of various community events we organised this year.

"Thanks again to everyone on the Aspects team and in the community for your ongoing support."
