Pool Academy, part of Athena Learning Trust, welcomed Camborne and Redruth MP Perran Moon for a visit this month.
Mr Moon, who was elected as the constituency's MP at the general election this year, visited the school to meet with senior prefects for a question-and-answer session.
The school's conference room was the setting for the meeting, where the senior prefects had prepared a range of questions for Mr Moon on various local and national issues.
Students were keen to discuss topics like education funding, environmental policies, and the challenges young people face when entering the workforce.
They also sought Mr Moon's perspective on initiatives to improve local infrastructure, plans to support mental health resources in schools, and ways for young people to get more involved in politics.
Mr Moon answered each question, providing context on how the government makes decisions and stressing the importance of youth voices in shaping policy.
He encouraged the students to remain informed about current events, to be active in their communities, and to understand the power of their voices in driving change.
Mr Moon also shared insights into the demands and rewards of political life, explaining the role and responsibilities of an MP.
At Pool Academy, senior prefects and the student leadership team regularly meet to listen to students’ views and are empowered to lead initiatives to support the whole community.
Nick Ward, principal at Pool Academy, said: "I am very grateful to Mr Moon for taking the time to visit Pool Academy and meet with our student prefects.
"The session was an inspiring experience for everyone involved and I hope to arrange more opportunities like this that will connect our students with community leaders and enable them to explore the impact they can have on the world around them."
