The start of the Boscawen Street Christmas Markets in Truro has had to be postponed after forecasts of high winds caused by Storm Bert.

The forecast of high winds this Saturday (November 23) means that they have had to pause the start of the Boscawen Street Christmas Markets as they are removing this Saturday's street market from Truro’s Festive Market programme.

They will now start on Wednesday, November 27.

The Truro Christmas Market on Lemon Quay will still launch tomorrow, November 22, on Festive Friday, coinciding with the city's lights switch-on celebrations. The village of wooden cabins will be open every day, from tomorrow right through until Christmas Eve.

Over the weekend, the Truro Christmas Market is open Saturday from 9am until 5pm, and Sunday from 10am until 4pm.

However, Truro Farmers Market will not be taking place on Saturday, November 23 due to the high winds. The city’s national and independent shops and eateries, and two indoor markets will be open as normal.

The first of the twice weekly Christmas Street Markets on Boscawen Street will now start on Wednesday, November 27 for Truro's first late night shopping day alongside the return of the Father Christmas Parade.

From Wednesday, November 27 right through until Christmas the Boscawen Street Christmas Markets are every Wednesday from 9am - 9pm and Saturday from 9am - 5pm. There will be local gifts, produce and street food, along with traffic-free shopping and live music.

Boscawen Street will now be open on Saturday, November 23 to the current restricted traffic as the road closures won’t be taking place.

The Boscawen Street Christmas Markets are a collaboration between Cornwall Shop Small, Truro Farmers Market and Truro BID. The Truro Christmas Market is hosted by Truro Farmers Market and Cornwall Event Cabins.
